Ukridge (1924; U.S. title He Rather Enjoyed It) collects ten stories about Stanley Featherstonehaugh Ukridge, a cheerfully unscrupulous schemer forever on the brink of a fortune. They are narrated by his long-suffering friend Corky, a struggling writer. Ukridge's plans range from a training college for performing dogs and the management of a heavyweight boxer to an accident insurance syndicate, and each one ends up costing Corky time, money or dignity.

- Fareed Zakaria: “P. G. Wodehouse. I’ve read almost everything he wrote. He once explained that there were two ways of writing novels. “One is mine, making the thing a sort of musical comedy without music, ignoring real life altogether; the other is going right down deep into life and not caring a damn.” He did the former better than almost anyone.”
