This Is Your Time
By Ruby Bridges
Categories: Children's Books
Civil rights activist Ruby Bridges writes this 2020 book as a letter to young readers. She recalls November 14, 1960, when, at six, she walked past angry crowds with federal marshals to become the first Black student at William Frantz Elementary in New Orleans, and the year she spent taught alone by Barbara Henry, a teacher from Boston. Photographs from the 1960s sit beside images of the 2020 racial justice protests, and Bridges closes by urging readers of all ages to work together for change.
