Returning to Wrykyn, The White Feather (1907) is a sequel to The Gold Bat. Sheen, a quiet, studious boy, is branded a coward after he runs away from a street fight with local toughs, and the whole school turns against him. Determined to redeem himself, he secretly takes boxing lessons from Joe Bevan, a former professional fighter, and sets out to represent Wrykyn in the public-schools boxing competition at Aldershot.

- Fareed Zakaria: “P. G. Wodehouse. I’ve read almost everything he wrote. He once explained that there were two ways of writing novels. “One is mine, making the thing a sort of musical comedy without music, ignoring real life altogether; the other is going right down deep into life and not caring a damn.” He did the former better than almost anyone.”
