Alan Dean Foster's fifteen stories here span science fiction, fantasy and comedy. In "Operator Assisted Calls Are Charged at a Higher Rate", Mr. Parkworthy picks a fight with the telephone company, and the title story sends a subway worker among the odd beings who run New York's tunnels. In a longer piece, a Texas ranch family refuses to hand a crashed UFO over to government scientists, and in "Collectible" a girl takes comfort in her dragon memorabilia.
