The Halloween Tree
Last updated October 31, 2026
By Ray Bradbury
On Halloween night eight boys set out in their costumes, but their friend Pipkin has been carried away. A tall, mysterious stranger named Mr. Moundshroud offers to help them follow him. Their chase takes them across time and around the world, from ancient Egypt and Celtic Britain to medieval Paris and Mexico's Day of the Dead. Along the way Ray Bradbury shows them where the holiday's customs came from and what they say about death.
