Ethan Fortune has accepted that he may spend the rest of his life on the ice world Tran-ky-ky. Then scientists at the human outpost of Brass Monkey report that the atmosphere is steadily warming, and open water is appearing on the frozen seas. Fortune takes the great icerigger Slanderscree and a crew of Tran to investigate, and learns the warming is no accident. It concludes Alan Dean Foster's Icerigger trilogy.
