Categories: Business & Money, History
The Birth of Plenty is a 2004 book by financial theorist and historian William J. Bernstein. He argues that living standards barely changed for most of history until about 1820, and that sustained growth came from four conditions: secure property rights, scientific rationalism, capital markets, and fast transport and communication.
