The first book of Zecharia Sitchin's Earth Chronicles series, first published in 1976. Reading Sumerian and Babylonian texts alongside the Bible, Sitchin argues that a twelfth planet, Nibiru, passes through the solar system every 3,600 years and that its inhabitants, the Anunnaki, came to Earth and created humankind. His interpretations are rejected by scholars of the ancient Near East.
