Sulwe

Sulwe has skin the color of midnight, darker than everyone in her family and at school. She wishes she looked like her lighter-skinned sister and tries everything she can think of to change how she looks. One night a shooting star takes her on a journey through the night sky, where she hears a story about two sisters, Night and Day. Lupita Nyong'o's picture book, illustrated by Vashti Harrison, is about self-love and seeing one's own worth.
