Weighed down by his enemies and the approaching menace beyond the galaxy, Flinx takes his ship's advice and goes on vacation. He picks Jast, a near-desert world in space claimed by both the AAnn Empire and the Commonwealth, home to the reptilian Vssey. Hardly anyone there has seen a human, which suits him. But Jast is caught in the rivalry between the two powers, and his rest turns into danger in this Alan Dean Foster adventure.
