Roger Carr, an American lawyer in the south of France, is mistaken for a professional assassin. Soon both killers and intelligence agents are after him. Unprepared for spy work, he has to rely on luck and quick thinking to stay alive along the Riviera. Michael Crichton wrote this early thriller while in medical school, publishing it as John Lange. It plays the wrong-man plot for both suspense and dark comedy.
