Flinx seeks the Krang, an ancient weapons platform, to use against the evil approaching the Commonwealth. His ship needs raw materials for repairs, so he lands on Arrawd, a world whose people have reached roughly the age of steam. Contact is forbidden, but an injured ankle puts him in the care of a local couple, Storra and Ebbanai, and some natives soon begin to treat him as a god. Alan Dean Foster plays it for humor and peril.
