A dying member of the Meliorare Society, the eugenicists whose experiments produced Flinx, tells him that his father lives on Gestalt, an obscure Commonwealth world. On Gestalt, known to its natives as Tlel, he survives a hit man the Order of Null has hired as he looks for his father, in Alan Dean Foster's Pip and Flinx series.
