Winston Churchill's biography of his father, first published in two volumes in 1906, follows Lord Randolph Churchill's political career. It traces his rise as a Conservative rebel and champion of Tory Democracy in the 1880s, his brief time as Chancellor of the Exchequer, his sudden resignation in 1886 and his decline before his death in 1895. Churchill drew on his father's private papers and letters.
