Ian Hamilton's March

By Winston Churchill

Categories: Biographies & Memoirs, History

Winston Churchill's second book on the Boer War, first published in 1900, collects the dispatches he wrote for the Morning Post after escaping from a Boer prison camp in Pretoria. He rode with General Ian Hamilton's column on its march from Bloemfontein to Pretoria, and describes the battles along the way, the capture of Johannesburg and the liberation of the British prisoners he had left behind.
