I'm Thinking of Ending Things (2016) is the debut novel of Canadian writer Iain Reid. A young woman travels with her boyfriend, Jake, to meet his parents at their isolated farm, all while privately considering ending the relationship. As the long drive and the strange visit unfold, the story grows increasingly unsettling and the line between reality and imagination begins to blur. The short psychological thriller was loosely adapted into a 2020 film written and directed by Charlie Kaufman.
