Biff, properly Edmund Biffen Christopher, will inherit a fortune in Frozen Assets (1964; US title Biffen's Millions), as long as he is not arrested before a set date. For an impulsive young man, that is a real risk. Jerry Shoesmith, a struggling writer, tries to keep his friend out of trouble in London and Paris, while those who would gain if Biff lands in a police cell have every reason to make it happen.

- Fareed Zakaria: “P. G. Wodehouse. I’ve read almost everything he wrote. He once explained that there were two ways of writing novels. “One is mine, making the thing a sort of musical comedy without music, ignoring real life altogether; the other is going right down deep into life and not caring a damn.” He did the former better than almost anyone.”
