By Matt Ruff
Matt Ruff's first novel is set at Cornell University, where the writer Stephen George is working on a new story when magic begins to seep into the campus. Before long, the line between his fiction and the world around him begins to blur. Talking dogs, sprites, a band of students playing at knighthood and an ancient evil all converge in a comic fantasy about love, storytelling and the landscape of Ithaca, with many interlocking characters.
