Electronic Life: How to Think About Computers
Last updated November 1, 2026
Michael Crichton wrote this guide in the early 1980s for readers about to meet personal computers at home or at work for the first time. Many of his friends had been calling him for advice, and he wrote it to explain the machines and their jargon in plain terms. The book is arranged as a glossary, with entries such as "Afraid of Computers", "Buying a Computer" and "Computer Crime". It also includes short programs in BASIC.
