Named for the Drones Club's members, Eggs, Beans and Crumpets (1940) gathers nine stories. Several follow Bingo Little, married to the romantic novelist Rosie M. Banks and editing a children's magazine, Wee Tots, under a demanding proprietor. Others bring back the schemer Ukridge, among them the story of his boxer Battling Billson's comeback, and there is also a Mulliner tale and a romance at a spa town.

- Fareed Zakaria: “P. G. Wodehouse. I’ve read almost everything he wrote. He once explained that there were two ways of writing novels. “One is mine, making the thing a sort of musical comedy without music, ignoring real life altogether; the other is going right down deep into life and not caring a damn.” He did the former better than almost anyone.”
