Dr. Seuss's Sleep Book
By Dr. Seuss
Categories: Children's Books
Dr. Seuss's 1962 bedtime picture book begins with a single yawn from a very small bug named Van Vleck. The yawn spreads from creature to creature across the land as night falls. A narrator tallies the sleepers as they settle down, from a club of Hinkle-Horn Honkers to creatures who sleepwalk and talk in their sleep, until the count reaches ninety-nine zillion, nine trillion and two. Gentle rhyme and a slowing rhythm are meant to ease a child toward bed.

- Richard Branson: “I have been reading a lot of books by one of my favourite authors, Dr Seuss... There is more wisdom and humour in his cartoons and rhymes than in any number of lengthy and highbrow books.”
