Do Butlers Burgle Banks?
Categories: Humor & Entertainment, Literature & Fiction
Mike Bond inherits a small family bank in an English village in Do Butlers Burgle Banks? (1968), only to find it on the brink of ruin. His newly hired butler, Horace Appleby, is in fact a master criminal who runs a gang of burglars and has the bank in his sights. Rival crooks and a determined local policeman add to the confusion as the night of the planned robbery approaches.

- Fareed Zakaria: “P. G. Wodehouse. I’ve read almost everything he wrote. He once explained that there were two ways of writing novels. “One is mine, making the thing a sort of musical comedy without music, ignoring real life altogether; the other is going right down deep into life and not caring a damn.” He did the former better than almost anyone.”
