A Sentimental Journey
Categories: Literature & Fiction
Laurence Sterne's 1768 comic travel narrative, in which the parson Yorick, a character carried over from Tristram Shandy, journeys through France recording not monuments and sights but his encounters, flirtations and feelings along the way. Left unfinished at Sterne's death, it helped shape the cult of sensibility in eighteenth-century literature.
