Wandering Stars (2024) is Tommy Orange's novel tracing one Native American family across generations, working as both a prequel and a sequel to There There. It opens with Jude Star, a survivor of the 1864 Sand Creek Massacre who is imprisoned at Fort Marion under Richard Henry Pratt, and follows his son Charles through the Carlisle Indian Industrial School. In Oakland, his descendant Orvil Red Feather and his brothers struggle with addiction and identity after the powwow shooting of the first novel.
