Unbroken is Laura Hillenbrand's account of Louis Zamperini, an Olympic runner who became a bomber crewman in World War II. After his plane crashed into the Pacific in 1943, Zamperini survived 47 days adrift on a raft, only to be captured by the Japanese Navy. He endured more than two years of brutality in prison camps. Hillenbrand follows his struggle to rebuild his life after the war. The book, by the author of Seabiscuit, was adapted into a film.
