Travels with Herodotus
Categories: Biographies & Memoirs, Travel
Polish journalist Ryszard Kapuściński recalls his years as a foreign correspondent, beginning in the 1950s, when he carried a copy of Herodotus' Histories on his travels. He moves between his own journeys to India, China and Africa and the ancient Greek historian's accounts of wars and peoples. The book reflects on travel, journalism, history and the challenge of understanding other cultures.
