Travels in Hawaii
Categories: Biographies & Memoirs
This collection gathers Robert Louis Stevenson's writing from his two visits to the Hawaiian Islands, in 1889 and 1893, edited with an introduction by A. Grove Day. It includes letters, journal entries and essays about Honolulu, the Kona coast and his week at the leper settlement on Molokai, where Father Damien had worked. Stevenson also records his friendships with King Kalakaua and the young Princess Kaiulani, and his impressions of island life and politics.

- Ryan Holiday: “One of the books I re-read on the way there was Robert Louis Stevenson's Travels In Hawaii, which I had grabbed at the Honolulu Airport last February and very much enjoyed. It's a surprisingly diverse and sensitive look at a place whose history most people are totally ignorant of.”
