Trail Fever

Trail Fever (1997) is Michael Lewis's account of the 1996 U.S. presidential campaign, which he first covered for The New Republic. He follows candidates from the primaries to the general election, including Bob Dole, Pat Buchanan, Steve Forbes, Lamar Alexander and the long-shot businessman Morry Taylor. He writes about the consultants, reporters and voters around them, and he takes a close interest in the losers, often the ones most willing to say what they thought.
