The Yiddish Policemen's Union is a 2007 novel by Michael Chabon, the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay. It won the Hugo, Nebula, and Locus awards. The book imagines that Jewish refugees settled in Sitka, Alaska, after 1948 instead of Israel. Detective Meyer Landsman, a divorced alcoholic, investigates the murder of a heroin addict in his hotel who turns out to be a chess prodigy and the son of a powerful rabbi, in a hardboiled detective story.
