The Year of Living Biblically: One Man's Humble Quest to Follow the Bible as Literally as Possible
By A. J. Jacobs
Categories: Biographies & Memoirs, Religion & Spirituality
The Year of Living Biblically (Simon & Schuster, first published 2007) is journalist A. J. Jacobs's attempt to follow every rule in the Bible for a year. An agnostic Esquire editor, Jacobs lists more than seven hundred rules and sets out to obey them, growing an untrimmed beard, avoiding mixed fibers, blowing a shofar and tossing pebbles at an adulterer. He consults rabbis and ministers, visits the Amish and the Samaritans, and reflects on literalism, gratitude and ritual in a secular life.

- Tim Ferriss: “And then I'm going to make an awkward transition to my friend A.J. Jacobs, who wrote a book called The Year of Living Biblically , in which he tried to follow all the rules of the Old and New Testament. It's intended to be a funny, but also very informative read.”
