The Wide Lens: A New Strategy for Innovation
By Ron Adner
Categories: Business & Money
The Wide Lens is a 2012 book by Ron Adner, a professor of strategy at Dartmouth's Tuck School of Business, published by Portfolio. It argues that great innovations often fail not because of the product itself but because of the wider ecosystem of partners it depends on. Adner introduces tools for spotting co-innovation risk and adoption chain risk, and illustrates them with cases such as Michelin's run-flat tire and Amazon's Kindle. The book shows leaders how to map their ecosystem before committing to a strategy.
