The Virtues of War: A Novel of Alexander the Great
Categories: Literature & Fiction
The Virtues of War, first published in 2004, is Steven Pressfield's novel of Alexander the Great, told in Alexander's own voice as he recounts his campaigns to a young officer during the march into India. The story follows his battles at the Granicus, Issus and Gaugamela, the conquest of the Persian Empire and the strains of command, as Alexander reflects on the warrior's code and the costs of ambition.

- Joe Rogan: “Like Steven Pressfield, brilliant author. ... and all of a sudden he writes Legend of Bagger Vance and all these great books and it becomes hugely successful and turned it around.”
