Categories: Drama, Literature & Fiction
Often considered one of Shakespeare's earliest plays, this comedy, first published in 1623, follows two friends from Verona. Valentine travels to Milan and falls in love with Silvia, the duke's daughter, while Proteus stays behind with his sweetheart, Julia. Sent to Milan in turn, Proteus also falls for Silvia and betrays both his friend and Julia, who follows him disguised as a page. The servant Launce and his dog, Crab, supply broad comedy.
