The Tutor (2002) is a suspense novel by Peter Abrahams about a family that invites the wrong help into its home. Scott and Linda Gardner hire Julian Sawyer, a brilliant and charming young tutor, to raise their teenage son's SAT scores. At first he seems to work miracles, but as he draws closer to each member of the household, eleven-year-old Ruby, a Sherlock Holmes devotee, begins to suspect that Julian is not who he claims to be.
