Categories: Politics & Social Sciences
The Third Wave: Democratization in the Late Twentieth Century (1991) is a book by political scientist Samuel P. Huntington. Huntington analyzes transitions from authoritarian rule to democracy in some thirty countries between 1974 and 1990, beginning with Portugal's Carnation Revolution. He examines snowballing demonstration effects, economic development, Catholic church networks, European integration and the choices of domestic reformers in each case.
