The Tale of Peter Rabbit
Categories: Children's Books
Beatrix Potter's tale began in 1893 as an illustrated letter to five-year-old Noel Moore. She privately printed it in 1901, and Frederick Warne published it in color in 1902. While his sisters Flopsy, Mopsy and Cotton-tail gather blackberries, the disobedient Peter squeezes under the gate into Mr. McGregor's garden, gorges on vegetables and is chased among the cucumber frames, losing his jacket and shoes, which end up on a scarecrow, before he gets home to a dose of chamomile tea.
