The Steps Across the Water

The Steps Across the Water (2010) is a fantasy novel for young readers by Adam Gopnik, illustrated by Bruce McCall. Ten-year-old Rose, out in Central Park, finds magical glass steps that lead to U Nork, a fantastical mirror of New York. Gopnik, a longtime New Yorker writer, mixes adventure with a love letter to the city's streets, parks and odd corners as Rose is drawn into saving the other city.
