The Seven Sins of Memory: How the Mind Forgets and Remembers
Categories: Science & Math
Harvard psychologist Daniel Schacter describes seven ways memory fails us: transience, absent-mindedness, blocking, misattribution, suggestibility, bias and persistence. Drawing on research and real cases, he explains how each sin arises from the workings of the brain. Schacter argues that these flaws are by-products of a memory system that otherwise serves us well, and discusses how to reduce their effects. The book is written for general readers.
