The Search for Common Ground
Categories: Religion & Spirituality
The Search for Common Ground (1971) is a meditation by theologian Howard Thurman on the human search for community. Thurman draws on creation myths, biology and the study of living things, utopian visions and his own experience to argue that all life seeks wholeness and harmony, and that separation goes against its nature. He applies this to relations between races and peoples, holding that community is the goal toward which life itself moves.
