The Power Paradox: How We Gain and Lose Influence
Categories: Business & Money, Politics & Social Sciences
Berkeley psychologist Dacher Keltner draws on two decades of research to explain how people gain and lose power. He argues that power is gained through empathy, generosity and focus on others, but that once people have it, they often become impulsive and self-serving and lose the qualities that brought it. Keltner offers ways to keep power and use it well.
