The Philosophy of Chrysippus
Categories: History, Religion & Spirituality
Josiah Gould offers a scholarly account of the thought of Chrysippus, the third head of the Stoic school in Athens and one of its most important thinkers. Since none of Chrysippus' works survive whole, Gould reconstructs his ideas from fragments and later reports. The book covers his logic, theory of knowledge, physics, theology, fate and ethics, and shows his central role in shaping Stoic philosophy.

- Shane Parrish: “Unlike a lot of books on Stoic philosophy, this is a tough one to read. While it delivers a solid and well-researched account of Chrysippus, someone I’ve been wanting to know more about, the real gold is the bibliography. This alone is worth the price of the book”
