In The Next 100 Years (2009), geopolitical forecaster George Friedman, founder of the intelligence firm Stratfor, predicts how global power will shift during the twenty-first century. Friedman argues that the United States will remain the dominant power, that Russia and China will weaken, and that Turkey, Poland and Japan will rise. Basing his forecasts on geography, demographics and history, he describes possible conflicts in space and on Earth and a new contest with Mexico late in the century.
