The Naval War of 1812
Categories: History
Begun while Theodore Roosevelt was still at Harvard and published in 1882, his first book recounts the naval battles between the United States and Britain in the War of 1812. Using ship records and both sides' accounts, he compares ships, crews and gunnery in each engagement, from the frigate duels at sea to the fights on the Great Lakes. It became a standard work on the subject.
