The Missing Millionaire, by Toronto Star reporter Katie Daubs, is a 2021 book about Ambrose Small, the Toronto theatre owner who vanished in December 1919, the day after selling his chain of theatres for a fortune. Daubs reconstructs Small's rise in the theatre business, his unhappy marriage and his many enemies, and the long police investigation and public speculation that followed his disappearance. She also shows how the case gripped the city for years and why it was never solved.
