Kaliane Bradley's debut novel follows a civil servant in near-future London assigned to live with an "expat" recovered from history: Commander Graham Gore, a Victorian naval officer who died on the doomed Franklin Expedition. Part time-travel romance, part spy thriller and part workplace comedy, it explores power, history and the possibility of love changing both.
