The Man Who Loved China
Categories: Biographies & Memoirs, History
The Man Who Loved China is a 2008 biography by Simon Winchester of Joseph Needham, the Cambridge biochemist who became the West's leading historian of Chinese science. It follows Needham's wartime travels across China and his lifelong project Science and Civilisation in China, which asked why China, long the world leader in invention, fell behind Europe.
