The Innocents Abroad is Mark Twain's humorous account of a cruise to Europe and the Holy Land in 1867, published in 1869. Traveling aboard the steamship Quaker City with a group of American tourists, Twain visited France, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Egypt and Palestine. He mocks pompous guidebooks, tourist habits and his fellow passengers while describing famous sights. The book established his reputation.
