Categories: Biographies & Memoirs
The House of Government: A Saga of the Russian Revolution is a 2017 work of history by Yuri Slezkine, a Berkeley historian, published by Princeton University Press. It tells the story of the vast Moscow apartment complex built in 1931 across the river from the Kremlin to house the Soviet elite, following its residents, true believers in the Bolshevik revolution, through their family lives and their fates during Stalin's purges of the 1930s, when many were arrested and shot, and reads the revolution as a millenarian faith.
