The Ghost of the Mary Celeste
Categories: Literature & Fiction
The Ghost of the Mary Celeste is a 2014 novel by the American writer Valerie Martin, winner of the Orange Prize for Property, published by Nan A. Talese/Doubleday. It imagines the stories behind the famous 1872 mystery of the Mary Celeste, a merchant ship found adrift and abandoned in the Atlantic with no trace of her crew, weaving together the lives of the captain's family, a spiritualist medium, and the young Arthur Conan Doyle, whose story about the ship helped make it legendary.
