The Flamethrowers is a novel by Rachel Kushner, published in 2013. In 1975 a young woman from Nevada nicknamed Reno arrives in New York hoping to become an artist. She falls in with a circle of artists and begins a relationship with Sandro Valera, an older sculptor from an Italian tire and motorcycle family. A trip to Italy draws her into the radical political movements of the time.
